2012 WTF #25: When is a “Quote” Not a “Quote”? When Given by President Obama
2012 WTF #25: When is a “Quote” Not a “Quote”? When Given by President Obama –
OBAMA SAYS:
Earlier this week during a speech at the University of North Carolina, Mr. Obama said:
“I’m going to quote this because I know you guys will think I’m making it up, she (Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.)) said she had ‘very little tolerance for people who tell me they graduate with debt because there’s no reason for that.’”
Which would be outrageous, except it’s not quite what she said.
For whatever reason, President Obama chose to leave out a couple of key words in his “quote” (making it a paraphrase, not a quote as he stated) because what she actually said while on the G. Gordon Liddy radio show was that she had “very little tolerance for people who tell me that they graduate with $200,000 of debt or even $80,000 of debt because there’s no reason for that”.
It looks to me like she was saying you could choose a lower cost education and not graduate with $200K in debt if you chose to (nobody MADE you go to an ivy league college just because they accepted you), not that she thought graduating with ANY debt was bad.
In that interview she goes on to say that she reminds people that the Declaration of Independence promises life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness — stressing the word “pursuit.” Adding that “You don’t sit on your butt and have it dumped in your lap” Amen, sister!
Then at the University of Iowa, Obama said, “You’ve got one member of Congress who compared these student loans — I’m not kidding here — to a ‘stage-three cancer of socialism’”.
No Mr. President, you’re not “kidding”, just misleading.
ACTUAL QUOTE:
Now, even though the president didn’t name him by name, this comment can be traced back to a comment made by Congressman Todd Akin, Missouri, in a recent debate with Republican senate candidates. When asked about the student loan issue, Akin slammed the government for taking over college loans in a 2009 bill.
So it appears his comment about “stage 3 cancer of socialism” is NOT about student loans, per se, but about the government taking over the student loan program as part of a number of national debt increasing moves instead of leaving it in the hands of the financial institutes better suited to handle financial matters.
I’m sorry, but if you are going to “quote” somebody, it’s supposed to be word for word, and hopefully in context, not mostly what they said, reworded in a way to fit your agenda.
COME ON ALREADY, I AM CALLING SHENANIGANS HERE!

Obama: I Can Do Every Job Better Than Those I Hire to Do It – By Jim Geraghty – The Campaign Spot – National Review Online
Wow, we obviously didn’t know he was the smartest man ever! Does the word narcissist come to anyone else’s mind? Check out what it says at the National Review Online:
It appears one of the great challenges that President Obama has had to overcome in office is that no one around him is as good at his job as he is.
From Jodi Kantor’s The Obamas, page 66:
Obama had always had a high estimation of his ability to cast and run his operation. When David Plouffe, his campaign manager, first interviewed for a job with him in 2006, the senator gave him a warning: “I think I could probably do every job on the campaign better than the people I’ll hire to do it,” he said. “It’s hard to give up control when that’s all I’ve known.” Obama said nearly the same thing to Patrick Gaspard, whom he hired to be the campaign’s political director. “I think I’m a better speechwriter than my speechwriters,” Obama told him. “I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors. And I’ll tell you right now that I’m gonna think I’m a better political director than my political director.”
This is not some long-ago sentiment, or momentary lapse into egoism. Michelle Obama declared at a Democrat party fundraiser in California last June:
“He reads every word, every memo, so he is better prepared than the people briefing him,” she said. “This man doesn’t take a day off.”

Allen West: Muslim Brotherhood & Extremist Groups Are Influencing U.S. Strategy | Video | TheBlaze.com
He’s the bravest guy I know. He will always tell it the way it is! Take a look.
Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) is never afraid to take a stand on the issues he holds dear, which is why the conservative politician is taking aim at the FBI for removing nearly 900 pages of allegedly-offensive training materials. According to West, this action, which was taken after Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) complained about some of the materials’ contents, is a form of “cultural suicide.”
Durbin, who wrote a letter to FBI director Robert Mueller about the situation, complained that the controversial documentation could lead Muslims and others to be targeted based on their religion. “There is a real risk that agents will be operating on false assumptions about Arab-Americans and American Muslims,” Durbin maintained.
West, though, said that the removal is evidence that extremist Muslim groups are holding sway over U.S. strategy. He discussed the issue of “tolerance” and its relation to the situation in an interview with Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” on Monday morning.
“We have to understand that when tolerance becomes a one-way street it leads to cultural suicide,” he said. “We should not allow the Muslim Brotherhood or associated groups to be influencing our national strategy.”
West’s main concern is that the U.S. seems to be watering down its definition of who America’s enemies are. In an attempt to decrease how intensely officials offend extremists, the politician claims that leaders are potentially endangering the nation.

Socialist Party of America Releases The Names of 70 Democrat Members Of Congress Who Are Members Of Their Caucus | The Obama Hustle
Well, I guess Allen West knows what he’s talking about. Of course I never doubted him. Most of the names are not surprising and I’m sure most of you will recognize them. Here’s a hint at one. “And guess what this liberal will be all about. This liberal would be all about Socializi…uh, um…will be about…would be about…basically, (pause) taking over, and the government running all of your companies.” Give up? Her initials are Maxine Waters.
MA Socialist Party of America Caucus
“This should come as a surprise to absolutely no one. The radical Marxist-progressives (communists) took control of the democrat party some time ago. They’ve only become more emboldened with the election of Barack Obama, who was raised as a communist from birth.
With their new found leader, Barack Obama, the Socialist Party of America felt secure enough to announce the names of 70 democrats in Congress that belong to their caucus.”
MA Members of the Socialist Party of America Caucus are as follows:
Hon. John Olver (MA-01)
Hon. James McGovern (MA-03)
Hon. Barney Frank (MA-04
Hon. John Tierney (MA-06)
Hon. Ed Markey (MA-07)
Hon. Michael Capuano (MA-08)

Obama Family Tax Shelter | Washington Free Beacon
Obama Family Tax Shelter | Washington Free Beacon
President Obama and his wife, Michele, gave a total of $48,000 in tax-free gifts to their daughters, according to tax records made public on Friday.
The president and his wife separately gave each daughter a $12,000 gift under a section of the federal tax code that exempts such donations from federal taxes.
There is nothing illegal about the president’s taking advantage of this tax shelter, but it does raise eyebrows given that he has lamented the myriad tax exemptions used by the wealthy—“millionaires and billionaires” like himself—to pay less in taxes. He has yet to propose a comprehensive plan to reform the byzantine tax code.
My AFP-CO Experience With Denver “Occupy EPA”/”Give Red Tape a Rest” Rally

EPA regulations = TOTAL RED TAPE! EPA has had negative impacts on miners, young college grads, farmers and businessmen! Enough is Enough!
Yesterday I attended my first protest rally. It was called “Occupy the EPA”/“Give Red Tape a Rest” rally. Going to a rally and holding a sign while calling out to passing cars is completely new to me, but totally worth it. I’ve been reading and hearing more and more about the overreach of the EPA and how it is slowly finding more and more ways of gaining unlimited control over our way of life. They have too much power with no oversight and that is one of the reasons I decided I had to join Americans for Prosperity-Colorado in protesting the Environmental Protection Agency-organized mining conference in Denver. EPA officials were meeting here for a conference on hard-rock mining.
I have come to agree with AFP-CO which believes “the agency’s rogue regulators and biased scientists are destroying jobs, driving-up energy costs, crippling America’s competitiveness and contributing to the country’s economic crisis.”
According to AFP-CO:
Recent rules targeting coal-fired power plants are the latest in a long list of EPA regulatory excesses, according to AFP-CO, which will cost Coloradans jobs and contribute to already-skyrocketing energy costs. The agency relies on biased, agenda-driven “science” and “scientists” to bolster its actions, the group says, pointing to the shoddy work the agency did investigating alleged water well contamination in Pavillion, Wyoming — as well as the agency’s decision to provide a prime speaking spot at the April 4 conference to Boulder-based Stratus Consulting, a hired gun for extreme environmental groups that has been implicated in a scheme to use shady science to rig a favorable ruling in a lawsuit in South America.
About 50-75 people showed up for to protest the red tape the EPA is using to make it tougher for businesses to get approval they need to comply with the crazy regulations and guidelines they keep adding for the supposed purpose of protecting the environment. We wanted people to know about how red tape and government overreach is restraining businesses to the cost of higher energy rates for everyone and the loss of jobs for many. Most of the time lately, this comes at the expense of small businesses being unable to afford the cost of implementing procedures to meet EPA regulations. Large businesses end up passing the cost onto the consumer which means the cost of gas, electricity, natural gas, etc. is passed on to people like you and I. What’s worse is that these businesses have no recourse but to pay the money and comply or go out of business.
The reason for our protest had a more personal context to those of us here in Denver. Colorado is a big mining state and we have great resources for hydraulic fracturing (fracking).
According to Valerie Richardson from The Colorado Observer:
[…]The EPA is expected to issue new rules on fracking April 17, which critics fear will increase the regulatory burden on the natural-gas industry and drive up energy prices.
[…]The fracking rules come just weeks after the EPA proposed further limits on newly built coal-fire plants. Protestors said they worry that the Obama administration is trying to circumvent the coal industry in favor of natural gas and renewable energy.
Read her article about the protest here.
Lucky for me there are groups like AFP-Colorado that make it easy for people like me to get involved in making a difference.
At the main website for Americans for Prosperity it says“AFP is an organization of grassroots leaders who engage citizens in the name of limited government and free markets on the local, state, and federal levels. The grassroots activists of AFP advocate for public policies that champion the principles of entrepreneurship and fiscal and regulatory restraint.”
If you want to become more involved in standing up for limited government and getting back to the freedoms we’ve been used to as free American Citizens then check out Americans for Prosperity and click on your state to see what’s going on in your area. It’s really helped me to feel as though I have a voice where I can go and participate in events that are done here in my state and city. Check it out. Find your voice!!
